|DeSoto Arts celebrates its 3rd Annual FIBER to FABRIC EXHIBITION
DeSoto Arts celebrates its 3rd Annual FIBER to FABRIC EXHIBITION this Saturday, Oct 1 from 10-3. Mississippi area fiber artists will come to the Banks House Gallery to demonstrate dying wool right from the animals, spinning yarn, weaving, and knitting all sorts of fabrics. Our fiber artists will have a wide variety of items for sale. This is one of the few places you can go to buy "home grown", natural material scarves and shawls. Yarn for sale also - stock up for those holiday gift sweaters!
Also this Saturday Oct 1,3:00 - 5:00 p.m.,Sacred Harp DeSoto comes to the Banks House Gallery. Sacred Harp is one of America ís oldest music forms, now experiencing a resurgence in college campuses across the country. Sacred Harp (refers to the vocal chords) is an acapella style of singing using the old-timey "Fa So La" scale. Many of the hymns date back to colonial times. This is a participatory event - come take a seat in the "squared circle" and try to keep up! Or just enjoy the ringing voices in the Banks House main room.
Next DeSoto Artsí events: November 13 Holiday Open House and November 18, MURDER at the MANSION fund raiser.
